PHP has a Spam Blocker that has worked wonders for my board, it can only be installed by admin panel access though, I could find the information for it if an admin wanted to give it a shot.

I did this a while ago but here are some helpful links I found

I'll look more into it and post what I find, but the mod I installed seemed to work for me. I've since handed down the admin position at my old forum so I don't know if PHPBB has any newer spam blockers available.

Sorry about the extra spam guys. I'm doing what I can.

I'm also thinking of turning on manual account activation, so any new users need admin approval before being able to post. In this way, new bots wont be able to post since I wouldn't approve them.

Thoughts?

If you're willing to go through all of the registrations, then absolutely. That's a pretty good idea.

thank you thank you thank you.. no more spam!!!! That's great.. I feel sorry for those guys.. hell of a job, being a spammer.. whatever.. how do you chose that line of work anyway.. If you lack all motivation in life be a spammer...

lol yeah i thought my job was bad doing tech support and telling people their stuff isnt working because they owe us money. i cant imagine being the lowest on the internet totem pole and just spamming stuff
