Dicky's Voice on PP&GJ

Postby The Tall Kid » Tue Dec 08, 2009 9:09 pm

So, if you have been to a few BossToneS shows, you have probably heard Dicky's famous line:

"If you know the words- sing along! If you can't sing- do what I do!"

Well Dicky- you SING on the new record! ...and it sounds great!

So I guess we all have to learn to sing now, so we can do what you do!

This is not meant as a dig- I love the growling, the yelling, the screaming... but I love the vocal style on PP&GJ too!

Yeah, I really think that his voice sounds great on this record.

Definitely an improvement over Jacknife.

It really reminds me of Pay Attention era Dicky.

Let's just leave well enough alone for now

Singing = a lot easier compared to that gutteral growl he normally has.

PP&GJ is Dicky saying "fuck singing like this" after totally losing it during Rhodesdown.

Yeah, were just not going to get the growl on new material, and I can't blame them at all. Dicky can sing, the music is tight, and the production great. I am happy, but then again, this is exactly what I expected. Songwriting just gets stronger....

Dicky can still do his old voice. But even so, everything just sounds somewhat different from record to record. He seems to go for a lot of lower notes on this one, maybe that's just me.

he's def saving the growl for the stage/the growl will come out full force after night 1 for sure. listen to desmond dekker on the recording then listen to it live from a throwdown on youtube or whatever. he sounds so awesomely dirty and gritty live. either way he kicks ass at what he does! I think he gets the growl going when "I Wrote It" picks up after the beginning

This was exactly what I thought when I heard PP&Gj for the first time !
I love the way he sings on it ! (and I'll always love how he was singing before... till the end !)
