It has been just about a year since our old friend Matt Badger lost his daughters Lily age 9 and twin girls Sarah and Grace age 7, in a tragic house fire last Christmas morning in Stamford Connecticut. While many of you are likely familiar with this sad event, you may be unaware of Matt Badger’s connection to the BossToneS. Matt was a member of one of Boston’s first Ska bands Mission Impossible. Matt and his band influenced the BossToneS a great deal. Matt even played some of the keyboards on our first album Devil’s Night Out. The tragic events that took place last Christmas in Matt’s life weighed heavily on us during last year’s Throwdown. This year we are happy to be helping contribute to a wonderful cause in memory of Matt’s beautiful girls.
Matt has been dedicated to honoring the girls each and every day by establishing The LilySarahGrace Fund. This fund dedicated to support disenfranchised children through the prism of creativity and project based education. In a short period of time, LilySarahGrace Fund has distributed nearly $600,000 directly impacting nearly 80,000 children in 48 states. The plan for next year is to double this.
The LilySarahGraceFund does this because it has been shown repeatedly that children learn best when taught in a method that is comfortable, relatable, and engaging to them. Creativity is the Universal Language that all children speak fluently and it allows them to excel in academic curriculum.
We are throwing a fundraiser for The LilySarahGrace Fund this year during the Hometown Throwdown. Please mark your calendars for Saturday, December 29, 2012. It will take place in The Foundation Room at The House Of Blues. We are offering a limited number of VIP passes allowing entry to the Foundation Room before, during and after the show. These special passes are not tickets for the concert. This offer is for those of you with tickets who want to Throw-down in high style while helping support a great cause. Let’s get together and do this for our old friend Matt and his girls.

We are excited to announce the final list of bands taking part in the Throwdown this year!
12/29 features the soulful, Ska sounds of Nashville’s Soul Radics and Boston garage rock legends The Dogmatics. We had the pleasure of playing with Soul Radics recently in Atlanta and we’re really pumped these guys (and gal) are making the trip. Many of you are likely familiar with our cover of the Dogmatics classic “It sure don’t feel like X-mas time.” We grew up with these guys and look forward to sharing the stage, and some laughs again after all these years!
12/30 we’ll be joined by our Jersey pals The Bouncing Souls and special guest, Boston rapper Moufy. Needless to say we’re super lucky to have the Souls coming to the Throwdown on the heels of their own NJ holiday extravaganza. Moufy, with his high-energy show and heartfelt Boston anthems, will make for a cool and exciting change of pace that we’re sure you’ll enjoy!
12/31 We have the Amazing Royal Crowns, Big D and the Kids Table plus…the Convictions. We’ve been asking the Crowns to Throwdown for ages and we’re really happy to play a part in this long-overdue Reunion. Since the Big D guys are usually backstage drinking our beer anyway, we just asked them to bring their instruments along this year. Really though it’s been quite a while since Big D last played the Throwdown so it’s great to have the lads back in the mix! As an extra New Years Eve treat, we’ll kick the night off with the Throwdown’s first international band, the Convictions, all the way from Japan!
As always, there will likely be a few surprises waiting in the wings…
See you in Boston!

The HomeTown ThrowDown 14 was such a great time. We loved every single bit of it … from the horn playing Santa’s (thank you Pete and Tyler) to Nate’s appearance on Night # 2, to meeting a true local sports legend and a super sweet guy “Candlepin Paul” Berger, to the Hot Tamale Brass band crushing They Will Need Music, to the crew at McGreevey’s, to Jake, Ry, and Collin in Suncooked, to the opening acts The Ducky Boys, H2O, Have Nots, The Slackers, Bomb The Music Industry, The Smoking Popes, to the 737, to our crew Darren, Adam, Moe, Rooney, Sal, Stew, Shawn, Judd, Jay Hale to the House Of Blues, to Higgs, to our new album The Magic of Youth, to The South End Youth Baseball, to the house on the stage and the men who built and designed it, to the other BossToneS Joe, Joe, Ben, Kevin, Lawrence, Tim, Chris, and J.G. I’m Dicky Barrett.
